| Dr. Barbara Loris joined the group May 1, 2001, after working
three years as an Assistant Professor of surgery at Rush-Presbyterian-St.
Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago.
She was associated with one of Chicago’s most prominent breast
surgeons, and was a staff surgeon for the Multidisciplinary Comprehensive
Breast Center at Rush, thus she has special expertise in the treatment
of breast disease.
Dr. Loris is a native of the Chicagoland area, and began her career
in medicine as an ICU nurse at Lutheran General Hospital where she
worked for 8 years before entering medical school at Rush University.
At Rush she was awarded the Janet M. Glasgow Memorial Achievement
Citation for academic excellence.
She received her general surgery training at the Medical College
of Wisconsin, in Milwaukee and spent six months at the Royal Devon
& Exeter Hospital in England.
She is board certified, and is a member of the American College
of Surgeons, the Society of Women Surgeons, and the Society of American
Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons.
In addition to breast cancer, she has special interest in laparoscopic and gastrointestinal surgery. She also performs minimally invasive varicose vein surgery and spider vein sclerotherapy. She currently lives in Lake Bluff, Illinois.
